e-Court Video Counselling or
traditional person-to-person meetings ?

So, what are the e-Court advantages ? These vary from problem to problem, but essentially the advantages over traditional person-to-person meetings can be summarised as follows : confidentiality, lower costs, convenient, therapeutic intimacy, flexibility and the parties are in control.

Confidentiality

All matters discussed at an e-Court counselling are entirely confidential. The parties, including the counsellor, will sign a counsellor agreement that binds all of them to this concept of confidentiality. Nothing that has been discussed by anyone can be repeated without the express consent of all involved.

Video conferencing with an e-Court therapy professional - Features

1. Video conferences are convenient. Video conferencing allows the member client to fit in time to work on their problems without having to leave their home. Sometimes motivation is difficult and having fewer barriers to treatment is helpful especially when the member client is feeling ambivalent about change. Also, adding something else into one's schedule can feel overwhelming. Video conferencing affords the member client the opportunity to attend therapy without hassle or travel.

2. e-Court counseling and therapy is not threatening. While attending therapy may be intimidating or uncomfortable, being able to do it from home allows the member client to be comfortable and relaxed while showing up for session. The member client is able to stay in his/her own comfort zone while attending therapy. The member client avoids the awkwardness of entering a space designed by someone else in order to share one's most personal issues.

3. Therapeutic intimacy with an e-Court Professional. When working with a professional online through email or text, one loses a lot of intimacy with the therapist. Non-verbal cues are missed completely and one misses out on making a connection with the treatment provider. Being busy and stressed is part of our everyday life. For example, video conferencing allows you to stay connected to treatment providers in aftercare that may not be local and/or explore different types of treatment that can be alternatives.

Much lower costs

Ultimately due to less overhead and increased convenience for e-Court treatment practitioners, video conferencing allows providers to offer treatment at a lower cost to member clients. This therefore reduces another barrier to treatment. In some areas, traditional face-to-face methods may cost upwards of $400 for a single session with a highly skilled and experienced addiction professional. e-Court Video conferencing can cut this cost considerably.
